Dr. Wanida Ono received her DDS from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand. After serving for the Thai Royal Navy as a general dentist for 2 years, she went on to complete her doctoral training and received a PhD degree from Tokyo Medical and Dental University in Japan. Dr. Ono further completed postdoctoral research fellowship at the Endocrine Unit of Massachusetts General Hospital before entering the orthodontic program of Harvard School of Dental Medicine. She later received DMSc degree and orthodontic certificate from Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 2014 and has become a diplomate of American Board of Orthodontics since then. Dr. Ono was recruited to the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Dentistry in 2021. Prior to joining University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Dr. Ono was an assistant professor at the department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry, University of Michigan School of Dentistry.
Dr. Ono’s research focuses on the fundamental biology of dental stem cells, with a further scope on understanding pathophysiology of dental development and diseases. Her research has been supported by the National Institutes of Health since 2018.
