A diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, Dr. Maria Gonzalez received her dental degree from Universidad Veracruzana in Veracruz, Mexico in 1996. She worked in private practice for two years and then entered a preceptorship program in prosthodontics at UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry. In 2002, she completed a residency and earned as master of science degree in prosthodontics from UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry.
Dr. Gonzalez joined the School of Dentistry faculty in 2002 and is a recipient of the Dean's Teaching Excellence Award (2003, 2005, 2006, 2019). In 2009, she was elected to faculty membership in the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society’s Mu Mu Chapter at the School of Dentistry. Dr. Gonzalez is active on local, state, and national committees and has held many positions across organized dentistry. She is the current chair of the American College of Prosthodontics Postdoctoral Education Committee.
